This is a collection of over 250 postcards collected by Lois Wood over the years to show life in Bloomington-Normal and surrounding communities in Central Illinois. Lois was born in 1935 in Bloomington Illinois, daughter of Lola and Theodore Steege. She was the third of seven children. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1953, attended Illinois State University (ISU) for 3 years while working part time at State Farm Insurance Company. She later returned to ISU to complete her studies in Library Science. She married Donald D. Wood on 20 September 1975 in Bloomington, IL. Lois was the family historian and skilled genealogist. Lois worked at and retired from Bloomington Public Library after 43 years of service. She was a gifted archivist and cataloged the Illinois Collection at BPL. Lois died peacefully in her home 28 June 2021 and her husband donated this collection to the McLean County Museum of History.
