In January 1931, Louise Muxfeld organized a group of Bloomington High School girls into the Gamma chapter of Tau Epsilon Delta. (The original chapter of the nonacademic sonority was reportedly founded in Chicago.) Many members continued to meet even after graduating high school. For some years, they met monthly at the high school and later met at various locations in the community.

The sorority became a social organization that also supported local charities through donations and volunteering. They were still actively meeting each month in 2001.
