Museum to Sell Replica Redbird Cap from 1969 Championship Season On June 6, 1969, Illinois State University's baseball team captured the NCAA College Division (now Division II) national championship by defeating Southwest Missouri (now Missouri State University) by a score of 12-0. The Illinois State team bus returned from Springfield, MO the following day, and the players boarded a fire truck for a victory parade through Bloomington-Normal.

In commemoration the only team championship in ISU history, the McLean County Museum of History will be selling a replica, limited-edition baseball hat worn by Head Coach Duffy Bass, starting pitcher and future Major League star Buzz Capra, and all the other Redbird coaches and players during that storied season.

This hat, created by The Seattle-based Ebbets Field Flannels, will be sold for $40 in the Museum's “On the Square" gift shop—and nowhere else! Proceeds will benefit the Museum—so pickup a surefire collector's item knowing your dollars are going to a worthy cause. These caps will be available for pickup by the holiday season.

You can reserve a hat by contacting the Museum at 309-827-0428 or by emailing Director of Development Beth Whisman at bwhisman@mchistory.org.
