Working for the Weekend: Educators Night at the Museum

Thu Jan 19 05:00:00 2017

Calling all educators! The McLean County Museum of History invites you to start your weekend early with a night of work-inspired entertainment. Check your classroom stresses at the door and join Museum educators for an evening open house of edu-taining activities and snacks!

Who: This free event is open to all area educators who are excited to hang out in a museum after hours. Bring along a friend or confidant!

What: The evening will include free time for exploration, chit-chat with colleagues, hands-on activities, information about Museum educational resources and future professional development opportunities, a sneak peek (shh!), prizes, and an excuse to play with your food! Savory finger foods, a make-and-take cookie bar, and adult beverages will be served.

When: Thursday, January 19, 2017; 5:00-7:00 p.m. Open house format. Come when you can. Welcoming remarks at 5:30.

Where: McLean County Museum of History, 200 N. Main St., Bloomington, IL 61701

Why: If sneak peeks and sweet treats aren’t reasons enough, the Museum is currently in the midst of a multi-year redesign of its five permanent exhibit spaces—two of which (Challenges, Choices, and Change: Making a Home and Abraham Lincoln in McLean County) can be seen now! Challenges, Choices, and Change: Farming in the Great Corn Belt will be the next to open in March 2017. With so much new to see, there’s no better time to experience the Museum and to share your unique perspective as area educators.
