With its speeding locomotive and long silhouette
breaking the horizon, photographers have long been thrilled by the
railroad and attempted to capture its image. As the photographer’s gaze
meets the rails, the rail worker, his visage weathered by vigilant
years of hard labor gazes back and is also captured by the camera. This
exhibit features 75 such images from the archives of The Pantagraph,
Steve Smedley, and Bruce Meyer.
