PRESENCE, PRIDE, AND PASSION: A HISTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN MCLEAN COUNTY

February 4, 2006 through May 24, 2008

Blacks began to settle in McLean County as early as the 1840s and have been proud members of the community ever since.  Their achievements are evident in their business endeavors, the success of their community organizations, and their record of military service.  They have fought to shape their own history by participating in the struggles of citizenship and civil rights.  And, they have revealed their heart and soul through their celebrations and artistic expressions.
