CRAFT ACTIVITIES AND INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES

Most field trips can include an optional craft activity or interactive experience that enhances the students’ understanding of the program topic.  Choose only one per visit.

Toymaking
Each student makes a chromatrope, an optical illusion toy favored by pioneer children.

Album Quilts
Students choose a traditional quilt block pattern to create using wallpaper samples.

Assembly Line
Students divide into two teams and test their skills making “candy bars” on our own assembly line.  We’ll discuss the challenges of line work and how production problems might be solved.

Pioneer Discovery Room
This interactive pioneer homestead is complete with household goods, tools, toys, clothing, and even an outhouse!  Students try chores like sawing wood, carrying water, and milking our Holstein cow, Blossom.
