{ "name":"Knit In at Normal Public Library", "description":"

We are back in person! We will be holding the first Knit In of 2023 at Normal Public Library on Saturday, February 25 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This event is free, and open to any knitter or crocheter to join us! The Knit In will be held in the Cafe area of the main floor of the library.

For the past 10 years (even during the darkest days of the Covid-19 pandemic) knitters and crocheters in our community have continued to make items for those in need. From scarves, to hats, baby blankets, fidget sleeves, and more! While the last 2 years we have created these items in the comfort and safety of our homes, we are coming back together in person to make items to help those in need in our community once again!

For the first quarter of 2023, we will be working on making pet blankets for Comfort for Critters, a social entrepreneurship that donates handmade pet blankets to shelters across the US. Local animal rescues such as the Humane Society of Central Illinois will receive the blankets made by our local knitters and crocheters.

Parking will be available at the Library or the parking garage next to the Library. For more information or any questions, please contact the Education Department at 309-827-0428 or education@mchistory.org.

Grab your needles/hooks, some yarn, and a friend, and come and knit for a bit! See less
