|
Herman C. Schultz (1912-1995) was born in McLean County, Illinois. He was inducted into the United States Army on April 23, 1941 in Wilmington, IL, and honorably discharged August 9, 1945 in Fort Sheridan, IL. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th [Keystone] Division. Schultz served overseas from October 8th 1943 to July 17, 1945, and was wounded in action in France on August 4th 1944. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. In 1942 Schultz married Ellen Paulsen (sister of Mary (Paulson) Thomas, mother of Stephen Thomas). After WWII, Schultz returned to farm in Funks Grove, McLean County, IL from 1945 until his death on August 26, 1995. Herman C. Schultz was awarded many honors for his service in the Army. His honors include: Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star, 3 overseas Service Bars, 1 American Service Stripe, Combat Infantryman Badge, Defense Service Ribbon. |
